We Pinned It: 3.14 (Pi Day)

National Pi Day comes but once a year and we must celebrate! How, you ask, does one celebrate Pi Day?

First of all, you must walk in circles. No, really. π is a Greek letter that signifies the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (approximately 3.14). So, people often celebrate by drawing chalk circles and then walking the circumference and then the diameter, to calculate the radius. Try it. We bet you’ll find it fun!

When you start to get dizzy, gather some friends and settle down to watch some movies about math. There are some obvious ones like A Beautiful Mind and Good Will Hunting, but this list can introduce you to some you may not be quite as familiar with.

The kids might not be as interested in foreign films as the grown ups so let them make Pi day bracelets or send them off on a Pi Day scavenger hunt.

And of course, there must be pie. Mini pies are a clever way to provide a wide variety of cute, and easy to eat options for your guests while they watch the math movies and mingle.

And, what’s really great about pie is that it can be a breakfast (Greek Yogurt Fruit Tart),

a dinner (Beef Pot Pie),
