Company/Tool Name: Hyper Plan by Oryx Digital Ltd (also makers of the PerfectTablePlan seating planner).
Website: http://www.hyperplan.com
What is the “problem” that your tool seeks to solve?
We noticed that lots of people still plan events by sticking sticky notes to a wall. This is intuitive, flexible and visual. But you quickly run into the physical limitation of sticky notes. And it doesn’t scale well beyond tens of sticky notes. Hyper Plan implements the same basic idea, but in software to avoid the limitations of sticky notes.
What is the best audience for this tool? Corporate events? Social? Other? Large? Small?
Anything that requires a reasonable amount of forward planning.
What does your tool help event planners do better?
Visualize their plans. The human brain is heavily optimized for visual processing so this really plays to our strengths.
How is your tool different from/better than the competition?
There are lots of complex and expensive planning tools out there. Hyper Plan is simple and inexpensive. If you have ever planned something using sticky notes, you pretty much know how to use it already. Also it doesn’t require an Internet connection or third party servers to work. So you can continue to run it on your laptop even if you have no wifi or our web server goes down.
What is the single coolest feature of your product?
A lot of people have told us they really like the animated transitions when you switch between different ‘views’ of your plan.
Anything else we need to know?
Hyper Plan is just $40 for a perpetual license for 1 named user on multiple computers. It is available for both Windows and Mac OS X.
