Behind the Hustle: Anita Belle (@ajb_events)

AJB Events is the brainchild and passion of Anita Belle!

Anita Belle is the founder and owner of AJB Events a Hudson County, NJ based Event and Design Company specializing in social events, with a concentration on teen and adolescent events, such as Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Quinceaneras, Sweet 16’s, birthday parties, religious life cycle events, baby showers, Bris’, etc.  Anita has also had years of experience planning gala’s, fundraisers, meetings, and more! She brought her passion into fruition forming AJB Events in 2015 and has been carving her place in the market.

She knew from a very early age she was destined to help people as she volunteered at Senior Centers in NYC. She carried this passion into her collegiate world while going to school for engineering, she took a board position on the National Society of Black Engineers [N.S.B.E.] assisting in the spread of academic success, professional growth and betterment of the community to the regional schools in the North East.

After college she continued to volunteer at the senior center and found herself in the restaurant industry working her way up from a Manager, General Manager and Event Coordinator over a 5 year period. Her keen organization and precise attention detail makes her a born event planner and producer. Anita has planned and produced events in the restaurant, travel, non-profit and religious industries for over 10 years and loves every stressful minute of it!!

Anita says “There is something magical about creating something from nothing but an idea; knowledge, hard work, dedication, and passion are key! This is why, If you have a reason to celebrate I am your perfect partner, making sure everyone is absolutely joyous before, during and after.”

“The Hustle”

Job Title: Owner & Event Planner

Professional Superpower: Make event dreams come true and mitigate any issue!

My primary role in the events industry is: Plan, coordinate, and manage outstanding events. I have varied knowledge and experience, I love teen & child events, but I plan milestone parties, fundraisers, networking events, galas, and social gatherings. I love the madness!

Years in the events industry: 10

To me, being an event hustler means: An event hustler keeps going after “it”, until “it” is chasing me. I see what I want and I know I will get there, because I will not fail, stop, quit, or walk away. I believe I won’t fall when I take my next step, so I am walking even when I don’t see the next step… it’s there, I’m sure it is! I am so motivated to be better than I was yesterday!

The top 2 most surprising things I’ve learned about the events industry since starting are: When I started I knew elements of an event, I had been to plenty, but being in it, I learned and realized just how much really happens behind the scenes and how orchestrated it must be to be successful. I don’t see an event through rose colored lenses anymore, I know how hard it is to have a great event; how many people are involved and how good each person must be at their job for it all to work! Education is key! There are people out here, that don’t educate themselves and keep current about the events industry. I am always looking to learn something new on my own and from people. I don’t want to be seen as just another, I want to rise to the top as the cream of the crop!

How did you get your start in the events industry? I started part-time in a large restaurant group as an office manager, I worked hard and became a manager. I was privy to so many events on that side, that I loved I decided I want to plan events and moved into the special events department. The rest is history… which includes various types of events knowledge – lol

My biggest event industry pet peeve is: Lack of knowledge… nothing wrong with not knowing, but educate yourself and don’t fake the funk!

“No such thing as TMI”

One thing that would really surprise people to learn about me is: I went to school for engineering, love cats and I LOVE Hello Kitty 😉

You can only keep 2 albums in your entire music collection -those albums would be: Stevie Wonder – Number 1’s and The Ultimate Luther Vandross

10yr old me thought I’d grow up to be: An entrepreneur, running my own daycare center. I have always loved kids and knew I wanted to help people, mold minds, and create the future.
