Ask the Attendees: @Bar_works #techstylenyc

At the height of NYFW, Janine Just Inc. presents TechStyle NYC, a day-to-night leisure of experiences at the nexus of fashion & technology, drawing influential media, bloggers, & celebrities into one fashion-forward event. Set above the bustle of fashion week, the lounge offers a welcome reprieve to VIPs to discover, the new, next and now among the emerging brands curated into the showcase. The event had a wonderful turnout and attendees enjoyed the chance to celebrate NYC’s fashion week in techsy style!

But just who are the brands that attended the event? What’s their take on the event industry? And what did they think of TechStyleNYC? We took the opportunity to interview a few of the attendees and over the next few days will be featuring their interviews, read on for a peek inside the experience:

We talked to Tahyira Cordner, Director of Operations for Bar Works NYC

Barworks

First of all, please tell our readers about you – what is the company all about?

Bar Works is the latest co-working space popping up all over New York City.  What makes our co-working community different? We’re converting old Bars into an innovative and creative environment that will thrive within our Millennial market.  It’s essentially an anti-sterile working environment that has all of the tools ready and available for our members to fully run their companies. We offer a de-centralized workspace environment providing the perfect infrastructure for establishment and development of a start-up company.

What were the 3 keys to getting the company off the ground – where did you invest your time?

Member experience- We’re creating an ecosystem within our vibrant office spaces where we serve as the meeting ground for mid-level companies to connect with younger startup companies where they can feed off of each other.

Property Acquisition and Rapid Expansion- We knew that we would need to be ready as far as finding proper locations.  We aim for corner locations with busy foot traffic location so it remains easily accessible comparable of that to your local Starbucks.  Our members are also allowed access to any of our locations for daily use so it appeases us to find commutable locations.

Local Awareness- Bar Works provides workspace with vibe and we incorporate a local element when it comes to our vendors.  We are curating a bar menu featuring beers and wines from local suppliers.  We aim to add an artistic element by showcasing local artists and local writers.

Just having participated in TechStyle NYC at SXSW, what role do live events play in your branding and marketing initiatives?

South By was an amazing experience for us because of the flexibility of our co-working space we were able to connect with not only individuals residing in New York City but those that will be traveling to the area or planning to move to area in the near future.  We are a new brand and we use these live events as an opportunity to be exposed to as many professionals who are looking for an environment such as Bar Works.

What was a successful social media campaign you hosted that showed great engagement and traction?

During the month of February we had a code promotion using the word “love” which brought us some new faces in so we thought that was pretty good. We are planning a few more campaigns once all of our social sites including YouTube is live and ready.

Finally, what is your favorite app?
